The color white, in both the Islamic tradition and Pakistani culture, is associated with purity. White sheets dropping on the body is a metaphorical reference to hiding the impurities one may have incurred. As the body is buried under a mound of white cloth, it also suggests erasing the existence of a life. An obscured body is a commentary on this unrealistic standard of  “purity,” and also reminiscent of death when the body is buried in two white sheets.
