Alchemy of the Everyday

Alchemy of the Everyday
Looped B/W Super8 film, hand-processed with caffenol

For a few months, I took daily walks to a pond near my studio and observed light dancing on the surface of the water. This is an experimental, contemplative work in recognition of the accidentally miraculous in everyday encounters; a meditation on the sensuous amalgam of liquid, light, and lingering; and an immersion in the pleasures of tactility and materiality. The accompanying 33 unique monotype prints are stills from the film that are created using pressure from a spoon and my body. Acutely aware that recounting an inner experience is nearly impossible, I embrace the ghostly renderings of those moments as records of the impulse to try.
